Do’s & Don’ts for Safety and Comfort

Do’s & Don’ts for Safety and Comfort

“Sign, sign, everywhere a sign…Do this, don’t do that, can’t you read the sign?” Do you remember those lyrics? They were included in a 1970’s protest song of sorts performed by the “Five Man Electrical Band”. Masters isn’t protesting anything, but we are using this to post some signs about common sense do’s and don’ts to assure your safety and comfort. Do: Make sure to test your carbon monoxide detectors to ensure all of them are working. Make sure to replace the batteries on a regular basis. Don’t have CO detectors? Call Masters to find out how easy and affordable it is to add these life-saving devices to your house. Don’t: Depend only on your detectors. Remember, they only detect carbon monoxide when the levels are dangerously high. There is more and more evidence that even low levels of this odorless gas can have long term health effects. Schedule a furnace or boiler inspection so our Masters technicians can test the air for any presence of this deadly gas. Do: Take care of your HVAC filters. Change or clean them regularly.  A dirty filter is the most common reason for a system breakdown, and keeping them clean is the single most important thing you can do to keep your system running efficiently. Even a relatively small amount of dirt and dust can limit air flow. Don’t: Postpone regular maintenance. It may be the middle of the winter, but there’s no reason why you can’t call Masters right now to schedule your air conditioning repair and tune-up visit at your home in Fort Wayne, IN. Don’t wait until the first hot day of the year to find out your air conditioner isn’t working. That’s the time when everyone else will also be calling. The very best way to handle regular maintenance is with an Energy Savings Agreement (ESA) maintenance plan from Masters. It gives you annual tune-ups on your heating and cooling systems, plus a host of other benefits. And we will call you to make the appointment. Do: Prepare your outside compressor now for the warm weather […]

There are Many Ways to Say Merry Christmas

There are Many Ways to Say Merry Christmas

Twas the night before Christmas, and thanks to Masters Heating and Cooling everyone is toasty warm. This holiday season, two Voyager spaceships are speeding through space nearly 13-billion miles from the sun after they were launched more than 40 years ago. Onboard is a recording of greetings from earth in 55 human languages in case the spacecrafts are ever discovered by another intelligent race. While Masters can’t match the science behind the Voyager Mission, we do know there are many ways to say: “We wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.” “We wensen je prettige kerstdagen en een gelukkig nieuwjaar.” (Dutch) Greetings to all of our wonderful heating and cooling clients and their friends, and neighbors in Fort Wayne, IN. We hope all of you took part in and enjoyed this year’s Night of Lights and downtown HolidayFest. “Vi auguriamo un buon Natale e un felice anno nuovo.” (Italian) Greetings to all of you in Angola. If you haven’t had a chance, you should come by and visit us. Our Masters location in Angola is in beautiful downtown. Our location also allows us to serve the nearby cities of Ashley, Butler, Fremont, Sturgis, Waterloo, and many others. “Te deseamos una Feliz Navidad y un Feliz Año Nuevo” (Spanish). Our best wishes to the fine folks in Decatur. We hope you enjoyed this year’s Christmas open house. What a great way to support local merchants. Masters is proud to be a part of the fabric of Decatur, the county seat for Adams County. Did you know it’s also home to Mark Bulmahn, president and CEO of Masters Heating and Cooling? “Nous vous souhaitons un joyeux Noël et une bonne année” (French). Masters by Van Valer is proud to be serving the city of Greenwood. This year the city held its first Kid City Christmas event. It featured Christmas crafts and cookie decorating. Our best wishes to all of our friends in Greenwood. “Wir wünschen Ihnen ein frohes Weihnachtsfest und ein glückliches neues Jahr” (German). Last but not least, holiday greetings to everyone in the cosmopolitan […]

Tis the Season to Protect and Help

Tis the Season to Protect and Help

The holidays are a time to give, and we’re not just talking about giving gifts to family members. We are talking about doing everything we can to keep our communities safe and taking care of each other, especially those who need a little extra help. Masters Heating & Cooling has a great way for you to do just that. If you know someone; a friend, a neighbor, or a member of your church who’s having a tough time making ends meet, why not give them the gift of a heating system tune-up? With your donation, we can send one of our highly trained technicians to their home. It will help keep them safe and warm during the winter ahead. Masters also knows there are families out there who could even be in life-threatening situations, perhaps in need of a new furnace to keep their home warm. If you know someone like that, call us and let us know. Masters is proud to work with the Neighborhood Link campaign to help deserving families. We can’t help everyone, but during the course of the winter we will be donating a limited number of new furnaces to people who are in need. As much as we want you to reach out and help others, please don’t forget about your own safety. Home heating season is also the peak of the carbon monoxide poisoning season. This deadly gas kills more than 400 people on average every year. Masters can test the air in your home for the presence of CO, and check all of the gas burning devices like furnaces, boilers, water heaters, and fireplace logs to make sure they are working correctly. If you don’t have carbon monoxide detectors in your home, Masters can also install them for you. And we want to emphasize that we used the plural form detectors on purpose. For true safety, a single detector really isn’t enough. There should be one on every level of your home and one near every sleeping area. If you have an attached garage, there should be a CO detector […]
