Indianapolis Furnaces
Forced Air furnaces
When the temperature drops outside, Masters Heating & Cooling is here to keep your home warm and comfortable inside. It’s how we’ve been serving Indianapolis and all of Northern Indiana for years. Forced air furnaces have become the mainstay of home heating. Most burn natural gas or propane. While other forms of heat, radiant and geothermal for example have advantages, it’s hard to beat the relatively low upfront costs of forced air. Additionally, natural gas is generally the cheapest fuel.
The 1st Decision
Efficiency is one of the primary factors to consider when it comes to the furnace in your home. Furnace efficiency is measured by the AFUE (Annual Fuel Utilization Efficiency) rating. If a furnace has an AFUE of 75 it means 75% of the heat produced goes to heating the home and 25% is considered to be wasted. Many older homes in Indianapolis and suburbs still have furnaces with an AFUE of 50% to 70%. Today, an AFUE rating of 80% is considered a minimum and high-end models can be as much as 98% efficient. Those numbers make it clear that replacing an old furnace can save a bunch of money on your monthly bills.
So, What’s The Right Number For Me?
That’s a question only you can answer. Not surprisingly high-efficiency furnaces, 95% and above, are more expensive upfront. When we give you a no-obligation estimate our staff will show you the numbers so you can see how much you can save each month on fuel costs. Then it’s up to you to decide if the extra efficiency is worth the investment.
